AboutZink Engineering
Zink Engineering was founded in 2026 in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle with the goal of providing rapid, high quality engineering solutions and assistance.
We are focused on delivering robust mechanical design, analysis, manufacturing support and product development. The company works with businesses and teams to transform ideas into well-engineered, production-ready products.
We are passionate about helping you take your project to the next level.
David Zink - Principal Engineer
David Zink is a mechanical engineer with nearly a decade of experience designing complex mechanical systems in performance-critical environments.
At Boeing, he spent years working in the Environmental Control Systems group designing and analyzing the pneumatic systems, ventilation architecture, and thermodynamic systems that keep aircraft cabins pressurized and operational in some of the most demanding conditions. That environment shapes a particular way of thinking: every design decision has to hold up under real operating loads, not just on paper, and failure modes need to be understood before the hardware is ever built. It's an analytical discipline he carries into every project at Zink Engineering.
The other half of his background sits at the opposite end of the product lifecycle. At Cottrell, David worked on manufacturing process optimization for high-volume production where well-engineered designs meet the reality of the line and get stress-tested by throughput, cycle time, and the compounding cost of small inefficiencies. Watching a design succeed or fail in production, and learning to anticipate those outcomes from the drawing board, fundamentally shaped how he approaches manufacturability. Every design decision is made with manufacturability at the forefront so scale-up never requires complex costly redesign time.
He started Zink Engineering to bring that combination — aerospace-grade analytical rigor and high-volume manufacturing intuition — to the kinds of hardware projects that genuinely excite him: early-stage products with hard technical problems, manufacturing programs that need to scale without breaking, and teams that want an engineer who stays engaged from concept through production.
David holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and is based in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, working with hardware companies across the Pacific Northwest.
Our Philosophy
Strong engineering is more than just design—it’s about understanding how systems behave, anticipating challenges early, and delivering solutions that perform in real-world conditions.
01
Understand the system
Strong engineering starts with understanding how systems behave in real-world conditions. We look at the full picture — not just the drawing — so we can anticipate challenges early and avoid surprises later.
02
Engineer with discipline
We apply a disciplined, physics-based approach shaped by experience in large-scale, highly regulated environments. Accuracy, reliability, and efficiency are non-negotiables across every project.
03
Deliver what ships
Design, analysis, and practical implementation work together here. Every solution we deliver is both effective and buildable — so your project moves from concept to production with confidence.
Zink Engineering combines design, analysis, and practical implementation to ensure every solution is both effective and buildable.
Engineering Experience
With a foundation in complex system design, advanced modeling, and hands-on prototyping and manufacturing experience, Zink Engineering applies a disciplined, physics-based approach to solving complex engineering challenges. Experience in large-scale, highly regulated engineering environments informs a focus on accuracy, reliability, and efficiency across every project.
From concept development to detailed design and analysis to final production, Zink Engineering provides the technical depth needed to move projects forward with confidence.
